Atascadero:  S&P Global Ratings Assigned ‘AA-’

Atascadero Police Investigate Fatal Collision

On 9-27-25 at approximately 7:25 pm, the Atascadero Police Department responded to a report of a traffic collision in the 8300 block of El Camino Real. On arrival, officers determined two vehicles, a passenger car and a motorcycle, were involved. It was determined that the motorcyclist suffered fatal injuries. Felony Assault Related Arrest

On 9-25-25 at approximately 8:03 am, the Atascadero Police Department responded to a report of an assault that occurred at the intersection of West Mall and Lewis Avenue.  Original reports to the police department reported that a stabbing had occurred.  Officers responded to the scene and quickly determined no stabbing had occurred, but a 16-year-old male juvenile was suffering from exposure to a pepper spray-type substance.  The victim was treated at the scene by…

Baby Mongoose Lemur Makes Public Debut at the Central Coast Zoo!

The City of Atascadero and the Central Coast Zoo are thrilled to announce the arrival of a special new resident, Koba, a baby mongoose lemur born on July 4th! Koba, named after a traditional peanut dessert in Madagascar, is now starting to explore the habitat and can be seen by Zoo visitors.
