The men and women of the Atascadero Police Department are "Dedicated to Professional Service" to our community. We have embraced the Community Oriented Policing/Problem Solving (COPPS) philosophy, which is founded on the belief that police and the community must work together to identify and solve problems. Partnerships based on trust and enhanced by teamwork and open communication are the keys to the success of our mission.

The Atascadero Police Department is comprised of dedicated professionals committed to the safety of our citizens.
 The Department was formed in 1980 upon incorporation of the city and now has 41 authorized positions, 31 are sworn officers and the remaining are civilian support staff. Details on the department's organization are found here.
