The City of Atascadero Fire Department has limited funds for conducting the chipping program in 2010 for the citizens of Atascadero. The Chipping program will begin January 25^th, 2010 and will run until the chipping funds are exhausted. The length of time the chipping program runs will depend on the demand for chipping. We anticipate closing the program in April.

 

This program reduces the accumulation of tree branches and brush. This program not only reduces danger of fire, it reduces air pollution from the need to burn waste vegetation. This program also keeps green waste from entering the local landfill and chips provide an excellent mulch or landscape cover. We urge all citizens to become involved in this valuable program. This service is free of charge to the residents of Atascadero.

 

 

Please stack branches in the same direction with the butt end facing the direction where the chipping truck will be parked. Branch diameter can be up to 5" round with the length not to exceed 15 ft. Please keep piles free of household trash, processed lumber, poison oak and avoid vine type vegetation as this may jam the chipper.

 

If you live within the city limits of Atascadero, call 461-5070 ext 3300 and leave your name, address, nearest cross street and phone number so we can put you on the list. There are 11 areas on the chipping schedule, which covers the entire city. Each area will be done once a month. The Chipping program will start January 25^th, 2010. If your chipping doesn’t get done the first time, we will get it the next time we are in your area.
