It should be noted that cell phones will not necessarily connect directly to the closest emergency dispatch center. Those calls are usually relayed from one call center or Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) to another. Since this can result in a delayed response, it is advisable to obtain and store the direct "land line" number for the PSAP in your area, especially if you rely on wireless for most of your phone use.
