The cities of Paso Robles and Atascadero have formalized a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) agreement to partner on the North San Luis Obispo County Broadband Strategic Plan. The regional agreement will better align policy development and improve funding opportunities to bring broadband internet access to residents and businesses in both cities. Partnering together will allow both cities to share costs associated with developing a broader strategic plan and accomplish both community’s goals of building higher quality, more affordable, and more inclusive internet coverage for businesses and residents.

The primary objectives for this project are to develop a plan that positions North County for current and future broadband planning and infrastructure funding while strengthening our local economy and complying with the requirements of known funding sources such as the Broadband for All Initiative. The North San Luis Obispo County region needs a plan that uses data to identify infrastructure gaps, assets, strategic partners, key projects, priorities, and implementation strategies to get priority projects built. This project should allow our communities to connect with and join similar efforts with regions to our north and south to bring more meaningful projects and position the greater region for larger amounts of funding.

Questions shall be submitted via email and addressed to Loreli Cappel, Deputy Director of Economic & Community Development at: lcappel@atascadero.org.
