Youth Basketball

NEW YOUTH BASKETBALL CONDITIONING PROGRAM!

The City of Atascadero Recreation is excited to offer a NEW basketball conditioning program for youth from first through eighth grade!

This exciting program will include basketball skills and training, individual skill development, conditioning and  FUN! Coaches will be assigned to one player group (POD), and each player will work with their own basketball (included with registrtation) on drills and skills. It's a great way to get your athlete out of the house, away from screens and active with friends! This program is for all skill levels and will encourage fitness and fun! There will be NO games or scrimmages. Each POD will have 2 practices each week with the same coach and same group. 

The program will run December 7, 2020 through January 14, 2021 taking the week of December 21st off. Groups will be given a Monday/Wednesday or a Tuesday/Thursday practice schedule. This program is compliant with the current local and state guidelines established for youth sports. There will be no shared equipment. In addition, physical distancing of at least 6 feet and a stable group/pod of no more than 10 participants will be required.

Winter Youth
Basketball League
Ages: 1st-12th Grades
 
The City of Atascadero is excited to begin another season of our winter youth basketball league!! Our program stresses the importance of individual skill development, teamwork, positive attitudes and most of all FUN!! In a non-competitive setting, we offer leagues for anyone (boys & girls) in grades 1st through 12th and for any skill level. Games are held on Saturdays, with practices taking place during the week. Space for this league is limited and is on a first come, first-served basis. 
 
Game Locations: North County Gyms
Fee: $92/residents $101.20/non-Atascadero residents $5 discount to addt’l family members 
$10 late fee after 10/18 if registration is accepted (After October 25th registrants will be placed on a waiting list)

Important Dates:
Registration is open until October 18th and only accepted in person at the Colony Park Community Center. 
Skills Clinics (all players must attend at least one) 
1st & 2nd Grade: Tuesday, 10/15 & 10/22, 5:00-6:00 pm 
3rd & 4th Grade: Tuesday, 10/15 & 10/22, 6:00-7:00 pm 
5th & 6th Grade: Wednesday, 10/16 & 10/23, 5:00-6:00 pm 
7th & 8th Grade: Wednesday, 10/16 & 10/23, 6:00-7:00 pm
 
Practices*: Weekly, starting December 2nd and running thru March 6th*
Exact practice days/times won’t be known until after November 25th and will depend on the ages and coach’s availability. 
 
Games: Saturdays, January 11th through March 7th 
 
Coach’s Meeting: Wed, Nov. 20th @ 5:30 pm
