This program, referred to as chipping, will be offered to those properties in the Wildland Urban Interface fire area map within City limits. Registration is now open, and chipping will begin on March 26, 2026. Please contact the Chipping Program Coordinator with any questions.

Register online, using the link below, or call (805) 470-3300.

ALL MATERIAL MUST BE PILED NEAR ROAD OR DRIVEWAY & BE EASILY ACCESSIBLE!

Please stack branches with the ends facing the same direction. Branch diameter can be up to 5" round with the length not to exceed 15 ft.  Please keep piles free of household trash, processed lumber, poison oak, oleander and avoid vine type vegetation as this may jam the chipper.  The photos below demonstrate the correct way to stack your branches.

Two images showing the proper and improper way to stack branches for the chipping program: one neatly and uniformly stacked, the other piled messily.
