HOT EL CAMINO CRUISE NITE: NOTICE OF STREET CLOSURES
Cruisin’ Weekend kicks off Friday, August 21st, 2026, from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. with a new cruise route! The City of Atascadero’s 33rd Annual Hot El Camino Cruise Nite, which will be a closed and controlled cruise along a new route on El Camino Real from San Jacinto to HWY 41/Morro Rd! The following roads will close beginning at 5:00 pm, No Parking will begin at 3 pm and the Hard Road Closure at 5:30 pm:
HARD CLOSURES:
- El Camino Real from HWY 41 to San Jacinto
- West Mall from Palma Ave to El Camino Real
- Traffic Way from Palma to El Camino Real
SOFT CLOSURES:
- West Mall from School District Office to Palma for staging (Once all vehicles have entered route staff will reopen West Mall to Palma, Palma to ECR will remain closed).
- Palma Ave from East Mall to Traffic Way (Once all vehicles have entered route, staff will reopen Palma).
- Entrada from El Camino Real to Palma
- Traffic Way from Palma Ave to Lewis – will open once Cruise starts
- Olmeda Ave from Traffic Way to West Mall- West bound only- along Fine Arts (Soft Closure for staging only until cruise begins)
Pre-registered vehicles will enter Olmeda or West Mall for staging, will enter route on the corner of West Mall and Lewis.
NO PARK: 1pm-8:30pm: Center median and benches from Hwy 41 to Rosario. (No Parking and No Patrons)
Designated pedestrian crossings will be at Huckleberry’s, East Mall, and Traffic Way. The Tesla Charging Station located at Mechanics Bank will be closed during the event.
HOT EL CAMINO CRUISE NITE: RULES OF THE ROAD FOR ALL PARTICIPANTS
- Pass MUST be displayed at all times.
- Be advised this is a closed course. General safety rules apply.
- Obey all directions from Police Officers and event staff.
- Deliberate chirping, spinning, and squealing of tires is prohibited.
- Do not pour liquid on the street for tire spinning or any other reason.
- Exhibition of vehicle speed, excessive exhaust system noise and speed contests are prohibited.
- U-turns are only permitted at the south and north end of the cruise route where designated.
- Throwing items of any kind from vehicles is prohibited.
- Vehicles may leave the cruise route to “cool down” however, drivers seeking to re-enter the cruise route must do so at the designated route entrance.
- No passing or parking in the center median.
- Pick up and drop off of pedestrians in designated areas ONLY.
- Headlights must be turned on.
- NO Trailers
- NO Motorcycles
Violations of the above rules may subject the violator to being escorted from the cruise route, citation, towing, impounding of vehicle, and/ or arrest. CRUISE NITE WILL CONTINUE ONLY WITH YOUR COOPERATION! PLEASE HELP US ENSURE THAT THE EVENT CONTINUES TO BE SAFE FOR EVERYONE. PLEASE NOTE: HOT EL CAMINO CRUISE NITE PASSES ARE SOLD OUT!
DANCING IN THE STREETS: NOTICE OF STREET CLOSURES
On Saturday evening, August 22nd from 5-10 p.m., the City of Atascadero will host Dancing in the Streets! This event will feature community entertainment, and four amazing bands located in the Sunken Gardens area of Downtown Atascadero along with various food and beverage vendors. The following roads will be closed:
12:30 pm – Midnight:
- WEST MALL – Between EL CAMINO REAL & LEWIS AVE.
- EAST MALL- Between El CAMINO REAL & LEWIS AVE.
- PALMA AVE – Between EAST MALL & ALLEY WAY LOCATED BEHIND AMSTERDAM
- NO PARK AREAS:
- El Camino Real between East Mall and West Mall along Sunken Gardens.
