Police Respond to Report at Monterey Road Elementary School

At approximately 12:13 p.m. today, the Atascadero Police Department responded to a report from Monterey Road Elementary School regarding a possible individual wearing a mask seen on the school campus.

Out of an abundance of caution, school staff immediately initiated lockdown procedures while officers responded to the scene. Upon arrival, officers established a secure perimeter around the campus and began a thorough search of the area.

Students and staff remained safely secured during the response. Officers conducted a comprehensive sweep of the campus; however, no individual matching the reported description was located.

At approximately 12:47 p.m., the campus was cleared and the lockdown was lifted. Officers are continuing to conduct follow-up interviews as part of standard protocol.

The safety of students and staff is a top priority. APD appreciates the quick actions of school staff and cooperation of students during the incident. No injuries were reported.
