Upcoming Family-Friendly Fall Events You Won’t Want to Miss!

The City of Atascadero and the Central Coast Zoo Atascadero are re thrilled to announce a series of spooktacular fall events that are perfect for the whole family! Mark your calendars and get ready for festive fun:

ZOO BOO! Friday, October 24 & Saturday, October 25 | 4:30 PM – 7:30 PM

Double the nights, double the BOO! Enjoy a not-too-spooky Halloween celebration that’s fun for all ages, featuring festive decorations throughout the Zoo, carnival-style games, Halloween activities, a and a haunted maze.

Enjoy live DJ Entertainment: Friday evening with DJ Andy Morris and Saturday evening with DJ Medina Light Show Designs. Costume Contests for kids and families, with prizes for the best outfits!
Costume guidelines: Please keep costumes family-friendly—no masks for adults, no weapons, and avoid scary or violent themes. Help us go green and bring a reusable trick or treat bag.

Pumpkin Smash! Sunday, October 26 | 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM

It’s time to see what the animals will do with pumpkins—Zoo-style! Watch the animals enjoy their favorite seasonal enrichment treat in this fun and enriching event. From primates to parrots, check the animal feeding schedule upon your visit. Included with regular Zoo admission.

Día de los Muertos! Saturday, November 1 | 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM

Celebrate life and honor a vibrant cultural tradition during our Día de los Muertos event. Learn about the natural world’s connection to this sacred holiday rooted in Mesoamerican heritage. Discover the symbolism of marigolds, monarchs, and regional wildlife like the Mexican spider monkey.

Enjoy themed crafts, cultural exhibits, special guests, live music with DJ Rama, and delicious eats from Quesadilla Gorilla (available for purchase).
