2021-2028 - 6th Cycle Housing Element

Starting in December of 2019, the City of Atascadero began a focused update to the Housing Element of the General Plan (6th Cycle Housing Element Update). The Housing Element is an important part of the City’s General Plan and is part of a required Housing Element update as required by state law. It is a policy guidance document that describes housing-related needs and resources in the community. The Housing Element establishes a strategy to address housing needs for current and future residents in a wide socio-economic range, and may include additional policies related to housing supply and development in the City from 2020-2028.

Please visit this website for updates throughout the housing element update process. The City expects to begin public meetings early in 2020, and these meetings and subsequent documents will be posted on this website.

City City Council Meeting - 6th Cycle Housing Element Update Adoption Review

On November 10, 2020, the Atascadero City Council will review the final verision of the 6th Cycle Housing Element foir adoption. If adopted, the document will be sent to the State Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) for certification. Planning Commission Meeting  - 6th Cycle Housing Element Adoption

On October 20, 2020, the Atascadero Planning Commission will reivew the 6th Cycle Housing Element that has been approved by the State Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD). City City Council Meeting - Draft Housing Element Review

On June 23, 2020, the Atascadero City Council reviewed the Draft Housing Element for review and discussion, and providing feedback to staff and the City’s consultant.
